How it works
Why the free units change your cost
Bonus goods arrive with no charge. The amount you paid is therefore spread over every unit you received, so each unit costs less than the invoice rate. If the bonus is left out, stock is undervalued and profit on later sales looks wrong.
| Paid: 10 × Rs 100 | Rs 1,000 |
|---|---|
| Received: 10 + 1 free | 11 units |
| True cost per unit: 1,000 ÷ 11 | Rs 90.91 |
| Margin on paper at Rs 110 | 9.1% |
| Real margin at Rs 110 | 17.4% |

FAQ
Questions
What is the true cost of a 10+1 scheme?
You pay for 10 units and receive 11, so the amount paid is spread over 11 units. At Rs 100 a unit, you pay Rs 1,000 for 11 units: a true cost of Rs 90.91 each.
Why is my real margin higher than the margin on paper?
The margin on paper compares your sale price with the invoice rate. The free units lower your real cost per unit, so the real margin is higher — as long as you can sell the free units.
Should bonus goods be entered at zero cost?
Enter them as received with no charge, and let the cost of the paid units be averaged over all units. That keeps stock value and cost of goods sold right.
Does HisabMate apply schemes by itself?
Yes. Buy X get Y, slabs like 10+1 and 25+3, and different-item bonuses apply automatically on purchases and sales, and the bonus cost is counted so profit stays true.
